As I move through life, I have come to realize that my mind and spirit need many (often divergent) pursuits to feel fulfilled. Recent hyperfixations include crochet, long walks, yoga, doodling, donating generously to sick pets’ GoFundMes (a costly yet fulfilling activity), reading thesis acknowledgements, embroidery (since abandoned), and gardening (long abandoned, but hit me up for heirloom seed recommendations). Luckily, some ‘hobbies' have remained lifelong companions. I am fortunate to have developed an intense love for reading at an early age, and was often found reading storybooks that were cleverly concealed inside textbooks during study time. While I suffered from the typical lapse during my undergraduate studies, I am happy to share that I am, once again, reading late into the night and in other dimly-lit settings that my mother would not approve of. I have expanded beyond the trustworthy YA fantasy genre and enjoy reading a wide variety of both fiction and non-fiction books. Recent favorites include Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s oeuvre, The God of Small Things by Arundhathi Roy, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, The School for Good Mothers by Jessamine Chan, and The Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri. I am always looking for book recommendations, so please feel free send some my way. I have also started to dabble in some creative writing, and would like to make it a regular and genuine practice so if you have tips or resources for the same, I would be so grateful if you shared them with me.
